Before you fly to a Korean ski trip: who needs a K-ETA and the 2026 waiver dates, where to pick up an eSIM at Incheon, how T-money works, and where to go next for resort transfers.
Whether you need a K-ETA, where to pick up an eSIM at Incheon and where to buy a T-money card. The 2026 K-ETA waiver dates are here, with what to check if you ski in January to March 2027.
Three things to sort before you land: whether you need a K-ETA, how you will get mobile data, and how you will pay for city transit. Each section says where the information comes from, and the rules around K-ETA change often enough that the dates matter.
Facts checked on 1 November 2026
What K-ETA is and what it costs: K-ETA is Korea's online travel authorization for visitors who can enter without a visa. You apply at k-eta.go.kr or in the K-ETA app. The K-ETA site lists the fee as ₩10,000, roughly US$7 to 8, and says approval usually comes within 72 hours, so apply a few days before you fly.
Who is exempt in 2026: Korea's Ministry of Justice has waived K-ETA for visitors from the countries on its exemption list from 1 January to 31 December 2026 (KST). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notice dated 29 December 2025 says the extension covers every country already exempt and names the United States. Singapore was on the original 2023 list of 22 countries and territories. The K-ETA page we read does not print the full list, so choose your nationality in the application: exempt nationals see a "K-ETA Exempt" pop-up. You can still apply if you are exempt, and the fee still applies. A K-ETA holder does not have to submit a separate arrival card. Approvals already issued stay valid until their own expiry date.
Skiing in January to March 2027: The waiver ends on 31 December 2026, and we found no announcement extending it when we checked on 1 November 2026. Most of the Korean ski season falls in 2027. Look at k-eta.go.kr again before you book. If the waiver has lapsed by your travel date, apply for K-ETA before you fly.
SIM and eSIM at Incheon Airport: LG U+ has arrival-hall counters at both Incheon terminals. These are the locations and hours in its own guide, and the hours can change. Terminal 1, 1F Arrival Hall: Gate F, open 24 hours; Gate A, 06:00 to 22:00. Terminal 2, 1F Arrival Hall: Gate 3, open 24 hours; Gate 8, 06:00 to 22:00. You can buy an LG U+ travel eSIM online before you leave. Counter staff help install and test it. We could not confirm SIM counters at Gimpo. If you land there, set up an eSIM before you fly.
T-money transit card: T-money is the rechargeable card for Seoul subways, buses and taxis. You can buy it at convenience stores (GS25, CU, 7-Eleven, emart24), at subway-station machines and at Incheon Airport, and LG U+ also points to the online T-money shop. A new card has no balance until you load it, and many top-up points take cash only. LG U+ gives a free T-money card with 3 or more days of its eSIM bought at the airport counter. Promotions change, so confirm at the counter.
From the airport to the slopes: The getting-around page has the full routes, fares and booking links. Two examples from the resorts' own pages: Yongpyong runs a Seoul shuttle from 27 November 2026 to 1 March 2027 and an Incheon Airport shuttle from 7 December 2026 to 12 February 2027. The Alpensia airport limousine calls at Incheon T2 and T1, then Gimpo, and stops at the Alpensia Welcome Center.
Do US citizens need a K-ETA to ski in Korea? Not in 2026. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notice of 29 December 2025 extends the K-ETA waiver, including for the United States, from 1 January to 31 December 2026. For trips from 1 January 2027, check k-eta.go.kr before you book.
Do Singapore passport holders need a K-ETA? Singapore was on the original 2023 list of exempt countries, and the 2026 extension covers every country already exempt. The waiver ends on 31 December 2026, so check k-eta.go.kr for any 2027 trip.
Why would an exempt traveller apply anyway? A K-ETA holder does not have to submit a separate arrival card. The application fee still applies.
How much is K-ETA and how long does it take? The K-ETA site lists ₩10,000, about US$7 to 8, and says approval usually comes within 72 hours.
Where can I get an eSIM at Incheon? LG U+ has counters in the 1F Arrival Hall of Terminal 1 (Gates F and A) and Terminal 2 (Gates 3 and 8). You can also buy its travel eSIM online before you leave.
How do I get from the airport to a ski resort? It depends on the resort. The getting-around page lists the airport buses, Seoul shuttles and KTX stations for each one.
